The Flip Mino HD is incredibly small. Although slightly thicker than my iPhone, it is not as wide or tall. It fits perfectly in my front pants pocket along with all with the other gadgets that I am carry. The outside is made of a shiny plastic which does attract fingerprints. However, the Flip Mino is very comfortable to hold and its not slippery at all. The advertising claims that the Mino is the smallest HD video camera in the world.

The Mino is super easy to use. Even your aunt or uncle would be able to use the controls. All you need to do is point your camera at what you want to record and press the red button on the back to start. Push it again to stop recording. The Flip Mino can go from off to shooting video in about 3 seconds.

For such a low price, the Flip Mino HD has excellent video quality. Video output is 720p (1280x720 resolution at 30 frames per second). One negative is that any shakiness while shooting is quite pronounced in the video. You do need to keep your hands quite still when shooting. Battery life is about four hours which has not been a problem for me.

The video software included with the Flip Mino HD is very user friendly. It makes editing videos and uploading them to your favorite video sharing sites a breeze. It also works on both Mac and Windows machines which is nice. Transferring videos to your computer consists of using the Flip's signature USB connector and plugging it into a free USB port. This charges your Mino as well.

I really enjoy using my Flip Video Mino HD camera. Its really stylish to carry around and show off to my friends. I took it with me on my last trip and I was able to create and share some great movies. Bluetooth: What it is and How it Works

I know many experienced computer users who never give a thought to Bluetooth. “Oh, yeah, I think that’s built into my laptop but I never use it” is a common refrain. Initially touted as the technology that would finally free us from the horrors of multiple tangled cables and cords, Bluetooth didn’t catch on as quickly as expected. Until recently, there just weren’t that many useful (with the emphasis on “useful”) Bluetooth devices available – at least, not for desktop computing. Users of handheld computers (such as my iPaq) adopted the technology more quickly, as it allowed us to easily attach portable keyboards, headsets, printers, etc. to our portable devices (which often don’t have a bunch of connection ports like desktops and laptops do). Bluetooth-enabled cell phones allow you to connect a PDA or portable computer to the Internet through them.

Bluetooth was designed to be the basis of the Personal Area Network (PAN) – a way for devices within relatively close proximity to communicate wirelessly with one another. The range for Bluetooth transmissions varies from about 1 meter up to 100 meters, depending on the power class of the device. Thus, the most powerful (Class 1) can communicate over a distance of more than 300 feet, similar to a typical wi-fi network.

Like 802.11b and g, Bluetooth transmits over the 2.4 GHz radio frequency. Its speed is limited to about 1 Mbps (far slower than wi-fi, but still roughly equivalent to a typical broadband Internet connection). It uses LMP (Link Manager Protocol) to handle the connections between devices.
Bluetooth Security Issues

Bluetooth can operate in one of three security models:

1. is non security.
2. provides security at the service level, after the channel is established.
3. provides security at the link level, before the channel is established.

Each Bluetooth device has a unique 48-bit device address. The authentication scheme is challenge-response, using symmetric keys, and encryption is done with a key that can be up to 128 bits (negotiated by the communicating devices, with each device having a maximum key length defined). A 128 bit random link key handles security transactions between two or more devices.

When two Bluetooth devices establish a communications channel, they both create an initialization key. A passkey or Personal Identification Number is input and the inititalization key is created, and the link key is calculated using it. Then the link key is used for authentication.

The first security concern is the passkey or PIN. As with any key, long keys are more secure than short ones. If a hacker is able to discover the passkey, he can calculate possible initiation keys, and then from that, calculate the link key. Making the passkey long will make it much harder to accomplish the first step.

The initial key exchange takes place over an unencrypted link, so it is especially vulnerable. It’s best if this part of the BT device pairing process takes place in a more physically secure location (that is, where there are not likely to be any lurkers with BT devices who could intercept the communications). A hacker could record transmissions sent over the BT frequency and use them to recreate the PIN.

Rather than using the same fixed passkey all the time, it should be changed frequently (how frequently depends on the types of devices and the required security level).

Link keys can be combination keys or unit keys. Best security practice is to use combination keys instead of unit keys. When you use a unit key, you must use the same key for all secure transactions, and the key has to be shared with other trusted devices. This means any trusted device can potentially access traffic with other trusted devices using this key.

It’s possible to use the Bluetooth address to identify a particular device (and associated user) and log those transactions, which can create privacy concerns.
Why Does Bluetooth Security Matter?

Many Bluetooth users only use the technology to connect a wireless headset or similar device to their portable computers, and they may wonder why security is a big deal. Implementing security, even for these types of device pairings, can prevent an unauthorized user from using the headset.

However, another use of Bluetooth is to create a temporary computer network. For example, several people in a meeting room can connect their Bluetooth-enabled laptops to each other to share files during the meeting.

When you use Bluetooth to create a temporary network, it is usually an ad hoc network; that is, computers communicate directly with each other rather than going through a wireless access point (WAP). This means you have no centralized point of security control, as you do with a WAP (for example, you can configure a WAP to use MAC address filtering and other built-in security mechanisms). Thus, security becomes a major concern because you can be exposing important data stored on your laptop to others on the Bluetooth network. Remember that the range for class 1 Bluetooth devices can be more than 300 feet – far enough so that in some locations, the BT equivalent of the wi-fi “war driver” may be able to establish a link with your computer even though not within your sight.

Another special concern is the security of Bluetooth mobile phones. These phones may have information stored on them such as the addresses and phone numbers of contacts, calendar information and other PDA-type data. Hacking into these phones using Bluetooth is called bluesnarfing. Newer mobile phones and software upgrades for older phones can patch this vulnerability.

A related hacking technique is called bluebugging, and it involves accessing the phone’s commands so that the hacker can actually make phone calls, add or delete contact info, or eavesdrop on the phone owner’s conversations. This vulnerability, too, is being addressed by phone manufacturers. Thus, if you own a BT-enabled phone, it’s important to keep the software updated or upgrade to the latest phone models frequently.

Bluetooth devices can also be targets of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, typically by bombarding the device with requests to the point that it causes the battery to degrade.

Finally, there are “cell phone worms” such as Cabir that can use the Bluetooth technology to propagate to other BT devices. Cabir targets phones that use the Simbian OS.

The relatively short range of most Bluetooth devices helps to ameliorate the risk of most of these security issues. For example, to practice bluesnarfing or bluebugging against a BT phone, the hacker would typically need to be within about 10 meters (a little less than 33 feet) of the target phone.

At first glance, it would appear the market is being saturated by a constant influx of new Apple generation products. The continuing legacy of the iPod and, more recently, the iPhone has seemingly contributed to - if not provoked - a society that is entirely dependant on its music.

With the release of the original, 1st Generation iPod Touch, and its later partner, the 4th Generation iPod Nano, the world has witnessed a multitouch revolution. Each device is unique in its own right... but sometimes a user might wonder exactly how unique these countless gadgets can be. Taking the iPod Touch and 4G Nano as an example, both appear to have very similar exteriors (the myriad of available colors aside), come equipped with a program referred to as an accelerometer (which enables horizontal picture viewing or video display when the iPod is tilted), and have a seemingly similar interface.

In fact, the main difference between the two is - arguably - the storage capacities. Armed with an 8 GB or 16 GB Flash drive, the 4G Nano dominates the 1G Touch's 8 GB, 16GB, or 32 GB regular hard drive.

Both sport a 2 inch display screen; however the Nano demonstrates a much sleeker, more modern design with its tapered edges and oval-like shape. It's comparably lighter too - able to make a user wonder if he or she picked up the store's demo by mistake.

The Nano, in comparison, has a few interesting innovations "under the hood" that would certainly separate it from the Touch, though. A new program called "Genius" mode enables a user to instantly create playlists based on similar song attributes. The MP3 or digital audio player has been with us for some time and can now be considered the most convenient and portable method of carrying music around with us. Before the development of the MP3 file format and subsequently a player for this format the most common form of digital music device was the personal CD player, however this had serious limitations, particularly in terms of size where it was restricted to the proportions of the CD.

Attempts were made to introduce a smaller device, taking the form of the Mini Disc player although its use was limited and it did not become as popular as the CD. Today, there is an MP3 player in nearly every home in the modern world; in addition they have been incorporated into mobile phones for ultimate convenience. But what is the history of this little device?

The first digital audio player or DAP was produced as recently as 1997 by a company named Sae Han Information Systems, it was marketed as the MPMan by this South Korean company throughout 1998. It utilised a flash based memory but could only hold a paltry sixteen megabytes of data. The size restrictions of this inaugural device led to the development of a player with a hard drive. Compaq conducted the initial foray and with the cooperation of HanGo Electronics released the PJB-100 (Personal Jukebox), a device that could hold almost 4.8 GB of date, equating to over a thousand songs.

It was from this point onwards that a device was released that would not only revolutionise the design of MP3 players but design in other fields. This was the first generation of Apple's iPod. In the beginning it was the Macintosh fraternity who used the device but thanks to a simplistic interface and minimalistic styling it soon gained acclaim and grew in popularity. The second generation iPod was a revelation and was now compatible with Microsoft PCs and hence users now had more freedom to transfer their MP3 tracks. Many other manufacturers also got into the act and released players that were similar in function, if not in form to the iPod.

Fundamentally there are two main types of MP3 players on the market today, these are flash and hard-drive based. Flash players have no mechanical parts an instead hold the musical information on a flash memory that is either built into the device or is on a memory card. While in the early years of DAPs flash devices were seen as the more restricted of the two variants, modem technological advancements however have meant that flash players can hold up to around 32 GB. The benefits of flash MP3 players is that they have no moving parts and are hence less susceptible to failure as well as using less power.

Hard drive MP3 players differ from flash variants in the way that they have a mechanical drive that stores the data. The HDD is read by the device to access the music and because the data is stored mechanically they are able to hold larger amounts of data. It's always an interesting conversation to have between generations. The greatest invention of my grandparents generation would probably be the car. My parents generation might suggest the television. So what is the greatest invention of my generation? I've had a look at my top ten.

Number one is the Internet. Life just wouldn't be the same without the World Wide Web. The internet provides a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips, from finding out train times via Google or purchasing goods on Ebay. The latest explosion of social networking sites helps people keep in touch and interact without leaving the house.

Number two is mobile technology. Even during my generation the mobile phone has drastically evolved. I remember my first mobile phone was a monstrous Bosch orange brick. Yet, it allowed extra freedom as i no longer i had to ensure i carried 20p to use the phone to see if i could get a lift home at the end of the day.

Apple's i-phone has set the benchmark for new mobile technology. They are no longer mobile phones, a combination of a phone, video camera, digital camera, music player and computer, with full access to the internet.

Number three is the utilisation of Chip and PIN. Chip and PIN technology has allowed us to use our bank card to pay for everything, instead of fumbling around for coins in my wallet. There is no longer a need to send a cheque in the post, as payments are accepted online using your card.

I believe this simple technology will continue to evolve and cheques will be the first form of payment that could become redundant. Yet, if all payments can be made on your card, is there any need for money?

Number four is the use of satellite navigation systems. Satellite navigation allows drivers to navigate the globe without the need for a map. They allow users to know exactly where they are, where they need to go and, most importantly, how to get there.

Coming in at number five is virtual reality gaming and the Wii generation. Gaming has also drastically evolved during my lifetime. It was the original Nintendo Entertainment System that got me hooked, with Mario and other unforgettable classics. Sega and Nintendo were overshadowed by the arrival of Sony's Playstation and Playsation II, which also played DVD's and CD's.

While Sony's Playstation and Microsoft's Xbox have been battling out to create more realistic graphics and gameplay, Nintendo has taken a step back and created the Wii and DS, designed purely to entertain. These revolutionary consoles provide a much more interactive experience that can be played by anyone. Genius!

My number six is the more recent development of Sky Plus. Sky have constantly evolved their technology and the Sky Plus technology allows viewers to watch and record at the same time, as well as setting up a 'series link' so that you never miss your favourite episodes. Entertainment at your fingertips, but when you want it!

In at number seven is the iPod and iTunes. From the original Sony cassette Walkman, CD players and Mini Disc players to the iPod. All your music is stored and ready to play in one place. Itunes allows you to add all the latest tracks, and also radio shows via the create of podcasts.

Number eight is the microwave. I think the majority of houses all now have a microwave oven. I believe it's an invention that has been taken for granted. A simple way to cook ready meals, re-heat food or defrosting meat before cooking. Kitchen life would be alot tougher without it.

My ninth place gadget is the development of digital cameras. Digital cameras have allowed us to take a perfect picture, possible to view and delete pictures before deciding whether to print them. So effective when comparing them to its predecessors.

For my tenth and final gadget i have decided to take a look to the future. Maybe in fifty years time petrol cars will be a thing of the past and they will have been replaced by electric or battery powered cars. Many companies are testing hybrid vehicles that utilise both electric motors and other types of engine.

Impression of testing two way radio Midland GXT 550

Design
It's to time to tell about my testing of Midland GXT 550. This two-way radio differs from Midland GXT 500 only in camouflage coloring of enclosure. The enclosure is made of thick rough-service plastic. Once you take it, you feel its massiveness. It's no wonder, as it weighs 6.9ounce (196 gram) with battery and clip. To say about battery, it's NiCd (nickel-cadmium) with capacity 600mAh.
Testing
Preparing for the test
So, let's try to prove or deny manufacturer's statement about connection distance. Having charged battery and turned on our two-way radios at full power my friend and me went in opposite directions.
Connection range in the city
At first we decided to have a walk in the city and to check the quality and range of communication. To save time we chose district at the end of the city as non-uniformly built-up area. My friend stood still, I moved away on certain distance and periodically tried to connect with him. At the first interval of my way the connection was clear in the distance of about 1.2 km taking into account that I was in the car, as it influence badly on connection quality because metal impedes passing of radio waves. Having turned on ring road, I noted some impairment of connection, I heard bang, noise etc and couldn't explain the reason as far as the distance didn't change much. I drove some more, then got out of the car and tried to connect but there was no result. This journey is reflected on the map number one (1). Here you can see and approximately estimate the distance of Midland GXT 550 operation.
Having turned about I drove in opposite direction. This tour is indicated as number two (2). Truth to tell, the results do not much differ from the previous ones, the range of clear communication was about 0.75 mile (1.2 km) and when the road turned the connection was lost but resumed in several tens of meters.
In the city on the straightaway
Don't hurry to feel upset about not so good performance. In the next experiment we succeeded in having decent operation with 5 watts of power.
Then we decided to take up position at opposite ends of the city, namely on two railway bridges, and tried to connect on supposed straight line across the whole city.
Now about the results. The quality of communication is not ideal, though there were bang and noise it didn't disturb much. The range of communication was 2.93 mile (4.7 km). I guess, it could be much better.
Out of town on highway
Cheered up we decided to try our strength, that is the strength of Midland GXT 550 radio, along main highway that led from the city to the one of the region's town. I left my friend on the railway bridge almost in the center of the city and rapidly moved away. First communication sessions I had from car and they were literally ideal. So, I drove out the city without getting of car, it was about 6 km.
Having the cheek or better to say having the confidence I passed the town at high speed, then passed new-building area and stopped. Referring to the speedometer the distance counted up 7.5 mile (12 km). And there was CONNECTION. And it seemed not to be the limit. From the satellite you can see the picture of site I talk about.

Accessories
Headset
It is necessary to note that the headset going with Midland GXT550 works perfectly and provides good audibility in the city, where the level of noise is always very high. As for me, I don't like to attract unneeded attention, so I hide my two-way radio under my jacket and turned on eVOX, (this feature is for hands-free transmission).
The only deficiency when the level of noise is very high the two-way radio almost all the time works in transmit mode and it is impossible to change the mode to receive forcedly. If you don't want your battery to run down quickly it's better to use the button of transmission on the wiring of headset.
Battery
I bought two-way radios with battery in pack (capacity 600mAh) and I should say those battery have very long life. I have never had such problems when it is necessary to connect promptly and radio is out of work. Keep in mind, in case of low battery level two-way radio switches itself to reduced power mode, that's why I recommend you to have spare batteries, which may prove useful, who knows.
Conclusion
Two-way radio Midland GXT 550 has firm enclosure and stable antenna, also the radio is waterproof and there is little place for dirt to accumulate.
The capacity of batteries in pack is 600 mAh, that is enough, but at present time there are batteries with capacity of 2000 mAh and it would be great to have such ones.
Headset is rather good thing, when you do not want to attract attention. With it you have very clear sound as if you talk face-to-face.
The ranges of our connections:

in the center of the city 0.75 mile (1.2 km)
in the city (on the straightaway) 2.93 mile (4.7km)
out of town on highway 7.5 mile (12 km )

Neither accuracy nor approach of this investigation can be the ground to consider it seriously. In 2000, Sony launched the MiniDisc Long Play (MDLP) format. In the form of LP2, the MiniDisc player could compress audio at 132kbps for up to 80 to 160 minutes per disc. In the LP4 format, the audio could be compressed at 66kbps for up to 320 minutes of audio per disc. But a big difference existed in how the stereo channels were recorded between these two MiniDisc Long Play formats. The LP2 used the same discrete left and right audio channels as the original MiniDisc SP format, while the LP4 began the use of joint stereo encoding.

To keep up with the new MP3 players hitting the market, Sony developed its NetMD for launch in 2002. The NetMD featured a USB connector for exchanging music files with a personal computer. However, in order to use NetMD on your computer, you would have to install their SonicStage (SS) software. Many people found that SonicStage was problematic. In some cases, it froze their computer systems. In other cases it used up a lot of system resources, had file transfer errors, and put restrictions on how often files could be transferred. Though Sony quickly came up with an update called SonicStage CP (SSCP), which was more usable. Their reputation was so tarnished by the original SonicStage that many former NetMD users still won't purchase Sony products.

Other people don't use Sony products anymore because of deceptive claims Sony made about NetMD on the NetMD product boxes and on the Sony NetMD website. Sony claimed the NetMD would be able to play MP3 files. What they didn't bother to mention was that the MP3 files would not be played natively but would have to be re-encoded by SonicStage into ATRAC format during the file transfer process. This not only meant that the sound quality of the MP3 files would be tarnished, but also that file transfers to the NetMD could take several hours.

It didn't help that Sony did not provide good product information to NetMD retailers. All during this time NetMD retailers were telling their customers that files could be transferred from the NetMD to their personal computers. Many people ended up deleting their original files on their computers after transfer only to find out later that they couldn't copy their NetMD files back onto their computers.

In 2004, Sony made a variety of fixes and upgrades to their MiniDisc product line with the release of the Hi-MD. Things such as USB two-way file transfers could now be done. For the first time, recordings could be uploaded from the recorder to the computer but only files that were recorded in the Hi-MD format. But for many former MiniDisc customers it was too late, as too much damage had been done to Sony's credibility. In addition to Sony, only Onkyo even bothered to make mini-component systems and home stereos using Hi-MD. But Kenwood, Teac, and Marantz still have MDLP systems on the market, even though Hi-MD is backwards compatible with the previous MiniDisc formats. Hi-MD contains 1 gigabyte of memory and records in PCM, otherwise known as WAV.

In April 2006, Sony came out with the MZ-RH1 portable Hi-MD recorder. This recorder went the extra step, not only could Hi-MD recordings be uploaded but also recordings made prior to the introduction of Hi-MD could be uploaded. Without blatantly admitting it, Sony was giving MD users the chance to upload all their MD recordings to computer so the files could be transferred to other formats as the MD-age was now coming to a close.

A whole generation in East Asia has now grown up using the MiniDisc formats. Many people have become hardcore fans. Many people haven't found a viable alternative for making real-time copies of music for replay without requiring the clunky intervention and use of a computer. Many people now collect MiniDisc systems just as a hobby. But the MiniDisc systems live on in popular usage because many people just want to be able to grab whatever they hear to hear again later.

Strange Gizmos and Gadgets

Creativity knows no bounds. Let us take the Japanese for example: the gadgets they come up with are amazing. Some are useless but then again, it takes a lot to think of something and then actually pull through with it. Only the Japanese have the guts to conceptualize strange gadgets like that and then actually produce it. For that reason, I’m putting the spotlight on several strange gadgets.

Here are a couple of favorites:

1. Noodle Eater’s Hair Guard
Do you have long hair? Does it annoy you when your hair suddenly falls and dips in your bowl of soup? Being primarily a country who takes pride in their noodles, it’s only natural that the Japanese are starting to get annoyed at that experience. So what do they do? They invent! Basically, the Noodle Eater’s Hair Guard is a pink rubber gadget that fits snugly just around the face. It’s similar to a dog cone actually, only it doesn’t cover the whole head but just the face. In any case, when you wear it, you’d still look like you’re wearing a dog cone. This peculiar gadget is not only strange, but of all colors it just had to be pink.

2. Nap Alarm
This is particularly interesting for me. The Nap Alarm is the perfect gadget if you find yourself sleeping in between classes, lectures or even driving. You place the Nap Alarm just over your ear and through its electronic motion sensing feature, it calculates when you’re about to nod your head off and then it sends a loud sound right in your ear if it senses that you’re about to fall asleep therefore saving you from embarrassment or even death. (Though I doubt that an alarm would make the fact that you’re about to sleep a little more discreet)

3. Plunger Helmet
When the Nap Alarm fails, you can always use the Plunger Helmet. Not when driving of course. The Plunger Helmet is a gadget you use when you fall asleep on the train. It basically looks like a hard hat; the typical helmet construction workers use, but then it has a plunger attached to the back part of it. The plunger keeps your head in place. It is actually more helpful for your seatmates rather than yourself as this prevents you from swinging madly from side to side. Perhaps if you’re going to buy one, you’d rather use it on a drowsy seatmate than yourself.

4. The Amazing Shoe Umbrella
For people who buy designer shoes and wouldn’t dare have anything soil their footwear, the Japanese thought of something that would aid them. It doesn’t matter if your whole body gets wet, as long as your shoes remain untouched. How this amazing umbrella can fit into your shoes without destroying it is an unknown fact but as long as it keeps water out of the shoes then the inventors are satisfied.

These are just four of a lot of Japanese gizmos and gadgets that made its way to the market. The conceptualization of these gadgets seems to be logical. The addressing of a simple need is what propelled the invention of these weird gadgets. Isn’t that what consumerism is all about though? Isn’t it all about the creation of something that satisfies a simple need? If that’s the case then we can safely say that these gadgets fulfill those needs. Perhaps what we should laugh at is how absurd our needs are. Not the gadgets that are made to satisfy them.

Sony Ericsson update their Walkman slider range. Now with added GPS for those on the move.

Sony Ericsson are bringing out the W760 Walkman phone, which is a great all round mobile phone. It is a nice neat slide phone, similar in style to the old Sony Ericsson W850 - but less chunky looking.

The Sony Ericsson W760 has a good 3 megapixel camera, 2.2 inch screen, Walkman player with Shake Control and Sense Me, FM radio and integrated GPS so that you can find your way on journeys.

The shake control means that you can control the music on the phone by simply shaking the handset. So if you wanted to skip tracks you would hold down the dedicated Walkman button on the phone and shake the phone to the side. Which seems a little gimmicky and pointless in my opinion - if you have to press a button to activate the Shake Control then why not simply press the ‘skip' button? However, if you take out the need to press the button you run the risk of skipping tracks randomly when you make any kind of sudden movement!

Despite that there are good features on this phone, which will surely make it very popular. One of my favourites is the auto rotation which changes the orientation of the screen if you move the phone onto its side. So if you are browsing through your pictures you can move the phone onto its side to browse the gallery in landscape view.

As well as this the Sony Ericsson W760 has a 40 MB internal memory, 3G (although no ability to video call), Bluetooth and stereo speakers. This is a good upgrade for those with the W850, or those looking for a good music phone with the added benefit of the GPS.

The Sony Ericsson W760 is due out by summer 2008, sadly there is no word on pricing as yet.

There was a time not so long ago when a person could only watch a movie in one place and one place alone: the movie theater. Before video iPods, portable DVD players, home theaters and even cable television, people had to catch movies on the big screen. In a sign of just how far technology has come, a new invention now brings the big screen directly to the individual.

Vuzix iWear are special glasses that allow individuals to privately watch movies as if they were seeing them on the big screen. Through the glasses, a virtual theater is created, giving users the impression they are watching a movie on a high-resolution screen up to 62 inches. iWear glasses work with video iPods, portable DVD players, gaming consoles and other devices. All a person has to do is plug the glasses into a device, slide them on and grab a tub of buttery popcorn. The Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC or Origami) is a full fledged PC running a modified Windows XP Tablet PC edition operating system. Making it capable of running any application made for Windows XP. The UMPC, previously known by its codename, Origami, is being jointly developed by Microsoft, Intel, Samsung, ASUS, Founder and others. Manufacturers will design these devices according to Microsoft’s base standards. Microsoft intentions are to make these devices “small, lightweight, carry-everywhere hardware designs” Measurements of the 800x 480 resolution (minimum) touch sensitive screen are reported to be 7 inches (20cm).

All UMPCs will be less than 2 pounds and under 2 inches thick. Meaning they will be significantly smaller than a regular tablet PC but certainly larger than a PDA. The Origami devices are expected to be The UMPC will include touch-screen features such as a virtual keyboard called DialKeys from its Windows Touch Pak Interface software. iPod represents a wide array of moveable media players which have been designed and are sold by Apple Inc. It was first launched in October 2001.

Style-wise, the Sansa View definitely falls into the understated category; its shiny black face isn't unattractive, but neither is it eye-catching. The clear coat should do a reasonable job at protecting the player from scratches, but it also creates a dimming effect on the LCD, almost as if you're looking through a very fine-mesh screen. Luckily, the display gets very bright, so visibility is not really an issue. However, I should note that, although the text for all the menus is black, the lettering on the playback screen is white, which may present a problem for certain people. Along with track info, this screen also displays album art and can be set to show one of the following: time elapsed/remaining, a graphic equalizer, full-screen cover art, or the song that's on deck.
