Most of these add-ons are electronic gadgets and gizmos that will make the car to simply be desired. That means ensure the car’s electronic system is just right. If not, consider a visit to the nearest garage to have the car set up with extra capacitors or battery systems to improve the electronic system and ensure it maintains a smooth flow while on the road. Let us consider some of these gizmos that one can have installed.

Music enthusiasts will not doubt be familiar with the Apple iPod Nano. This is not just another of the iPod line of products. Not only can it store music and play videos, it can also store photos, audio recordings, games and TV shows. The iPod a 3rd generation gadget that has an internal flash memory of 4 gigabytes and plays MP3 tracks. That means it can store more tracks that you can listen to for days. In addition, the iPod can be connected to the car’s FM stereo system. In fact, this ability to connect the car’s stereo to the iPod can be done in a variety of ways and many transmitters have been manufactured to make this possible. One of these is the use of a wireless FM transmitter. This modulator will ‘hack’ radio signals to the car’s stereo from the iPod and allow a person to simply search the iPod using the car’s stereo and save it as a radio station. The signal is usually as strong as any radio station and will give one a lot of flexibility when it comes to music selection. This is a must-have add-on to get into your car’s stereo system.

Apart from the iPod Nano and the FM modulator, consider also adding a satellite radio tuner. This gives a person an almost limitless amount of radio entertainment from sports, comedy, news and music. This is a good piece to add to the car for someone who spends a lot of time listening to the radio. An external media controller is also another component to consider. In this age of changing technology, it will not be long before something new comes up and the desire to won it overwhelms the limited space on the dashboard. Where will the new digital music player, disc changer, navigation system or phone system go? The answer is installing an external media controller. This ‘black box’ allows the connection of several components without having to tear apart the dashboard. Another addition that will also captivate music enthusiasts is the SPL meter. This sound pressure level meter allows a person to accurately set the car’s stereo volume for each individual speaker in the car. In addition, the meter is quite affordable for anyone. Even after installing all the above components, remember to protect these devices from voltage fluctuations by use of a power surge protector.

The MP3 Player; Bringing Music To The Masses

sony mp3 player
The MP3 or digital audio player has been with us for some time and can now be considered the most convenient and portable method of carrying music around with us. Before the development of the MP3 file format and subsequently a player for this format the most common form of digital music device was the personal CD player, however this had serious limitations, particularly in terms of size where it was restricted to the proportions of the CD.

Attempts were made to introduce a smaller device, taking the form of the Mini Disc player although its use was limited and it did not become as popular as the CD. Today, there is an MP3 player in nearly every home in the modern world; in addition they have been incorporated into mobile phones for ultimate convenience. But what is the history of this little device?

The first digital audio player or DAP was produced as recently as 1997 by a company named Sae Han Information Systems, it was marketed as the MPMan by this South Korean company throughout 1998. It utilised a flash based memory but could only hold a paltry sixteen megabytes of data. The size restrictions of this inaugural device led to the development of a player with a hard drive. Compaq conducted the initial foray and with the cooperation of HanGo Electronics released the PJB-100 (Personal Jukebox), a device that could hold almost 4.8 GB of date, equating to over a thousand songs.

It was from this point onwards that a device was released that would not only revolutionise the design of MP3 players but design in other fields. This was the first generation of Apple's iPod. In the beginning it was the Macintosh fraternity who used the device but thanks to a simplistic interface and minimalistic styling it soon gained acclaim and grew in popularity. The second generation iPod was a revelation and was now compatible with Microsoft PCs and hence users now had more freedom to transfer their MP3 tracks. Many other manufacturers also got into the act and released players that were similar in function, if not in form to the iPod.

Fundamentally there are two main types of MP3 players on the market today, these are flash and hard-drive based. Flash players have no mechanical parts an instead hold the musical information on a flash memory that is either built into the device or is on a memory card. While in the early years of DAPs flash devices were seen as the more restricted of the two variants, modem technological advancements however have meant that flash players can hold up to around 32 GB. The benefits of flash MP3 players is that they have no moving parts and are hence less susceptible to failure as well as using less power.

Hard drive MP3 players differ from flash variants in the way that they have a mechanical drive that stores the data. The HDD is read by the device to access the music and because the data is stored mechanically they are able to hold larger amounts of data. In some cases hard drive players can hold as much as 250 GB of data; the benefit is that the user is able to carry their entire music collection wherever they go with ease.

Today the MP3 player is one of the most noticeable forms of technology that we see everyday. On the streets, on the plane, train or bus there is almost guaranteed to be someone listening to a DAP, by reducing the size of the personal music player through advances in data retention technology it has been possible to bring portable music to the masses.

Technology expert Thomas Pretty studies the development and history of the MP3 player and how it has revolutionised the way people listen to music.

Let The Music Play With Mp3 Player

mp3 digital music player
Music is the ultimate source of entertainment for many people in the world. It is one of the most effective sources of refreshing and de-stressing oneself, when one is burdened with stress and anxiety. It has always been on top of people`s popular priorities, to listen to music as a regular part of their lives. The invention of gadgets like Mp3 player and iPod has now enabled them to listen to their favorite music, even when they are on the move. This very fact has largely contributed to the growing popularity of the Mp3 player devices among many people across the globe.

Nowadays, Mp3 player manufactures are coming up with the different types of designs to suit the varied needs of all customers. Customers these days have become more prudent than ever before and now they want to choose gadgets that are multi-purpose in use. For instance, there are sunglasses with Mp3 player devices, Mp3 player with GPS (global tracking system) and many other useful combinations. These combined devices not only help users to save their budgets but also offer them comfort of using or carrying them. On the other hand, the manufactures are also able to introduce their products to customers with different features which, in turn, establish their credibility in the market as well. Hence, the whole market of music-oriented gadgets and devices are just growing day by day.

Depending on their functions, Mp3 player gadgets can serve a wide-range of purposes. A recently held study shows that an average teenager spends about U$350 a year on consumer electronic devices, whereas that of an adult sums up to U$1,200. Usually, customers have different buying behaviors and they take different features into account while they buy audio devices. For example, some people want to listen to music while they are working out on the treadmill, and some people want to amuse themselves by listening to their favorite tracks while commuting on public transport. Due to this difference in the life-style of people, manufactures are coming up with Mp3 player devices of different shapes, sizes, styles and storage features.

Since almost all the Mp3 player manufacturers are offering devices with the same features, making their products stand out from the rest is becoming an issue with them. Hence, now they are launching their products in different sleek designs and sizes to attract the attention of their prospective buyers. As a matter of fact, market research studies show that excepting for a few discerning buyers, most of them are influenced by the looks and design of the product. Hence, the audio player marketers are vying with each other to get the customers` attention by introducing their audio player devices with unique and sleek designs. As a result, we can find that most Mp3 player products are getting smaller in size day by day and their looks are just getting swankier.

Mp3 player storage capacity and battery life are some of the important features one should look for. Moreover, file format is not also a problem as most of these portable audio devices play all types of music files.

Despite all these Mp3 player features, people have now started picking only those music devices that have multiple functions. For example, products that do not have either a video player or GPS or a camera are less likely to attract the buyers these days. Many others customers are also searching for Mp3 player products with a screen facility to choose and play their favorite tracks whenever they want. So before you buy an Mp3 player, know what else you want from it apart from music. This will help you decide whether you should go for a mono-purpose or multi-purpose audio device player.

samsung slim mp3 player
Samsung's YP-K3 2GB Audio Player is an ultra-thin subscription-enabled MP3 Player. Instead of being limited to one equalizer mode, like some other MP3 players, the K3 has five EQ modes so your music plays how you want to hear it. Keeping with the "more than the usual player" mentality, Samsung included above average headphones; these comfortable bass boosting earphones fit comfortably in your ear and substantially limit extraneous noise for an improved listening experience. With an easy to browse picture menu, photo viewing capabilities and a built-in FM tuner, the K3 truly stands out amongst other flash-drive based MP3 players

The Samsung K3 is the slimmest subscription-enabled MP3 Player on the market. The K3 uses Samsung's OLED display with a light emitting touch-pad, a combination that has garnered.

I really like this player a lot, for its looks and its sound quality. However, the radio sucks, very difficult not to get any interference. the fm tuner in my previous samsung mp3 player worked great, and so does the tuner in my nokia mp3 phone... so its fine i guess if i need to listen to the radio i can use some other device... although i think it sucks that its so weak on the k3. also the 2 gb is enough for me... and battery time is also good, but my previous sams

Samsung has a knack for making products impossibly thin. This is apparent with a large number of their innovative cell phones. However, it wasn't long before they would do the same with their digital audio players. Considered one of the most eye-catching products at this year's CES, the new Samsung YP-K3 redefines the term slim, only measuring in at a mere 0.27" wide. However, that's not all that has gotten many interested in this innovative new player. Sporting a light-emitting touch sensitive navigation pad, a quality 1.8" color OLED display and a high-tech style interface, this is quite possibly the most appealing MP3 player to hit the market. Stick with me here as I give you a very thorough look at this little beauty...it may not be for everyone.

The sophisticated K3 is also a model of simplicity and convenience. It measures a scant 3.78" long x 1.7" wide x 0.27" thick and weights a mere 0.11 pounds - perfectly sized for the gym, the subway, or when you’re on the go.

user friendly

The K3 has a large 1.8" full-color OLED and touch pad that illuminates the sleek surface with a blue-white light. The user interface, which has won rave reviews, has intuitive navigation, and is the essence of cool.

And specially calibrated, bass-rich EP370 buds are engineered to deliver full, state-of-the-art sound directly to your ears.

playback time

The YP-K3JQB player comes with 2GB of flash memory. The battery lasts up to 25 hours - then for longer life, pop in its additional battery, and you’re good to go for a very long time.

Technical Details

Stores up to 2GB. * Plays MP3, WMA,DRM-Janus and JPEG. * Flash Storage Device * 1.8 full color OLED * FM Tuner with autoscan and presets * Light emitting touch pad * Li-Poly rechargeable battery * Screensavers-analog clock * Sleep timer and auto-off * Supports USB 1.1, 2.0 * JPEG slide shows * 20hr bat life

1.8 full color LED display. The K3 has a full color OLED Display. With its 1.8-inch display you can view JPEG slideshows.

With DNSe, Samsung’s proprietary Digital Natural Sound engine technology, the K5 offers virtual surround sound. This guarantees great volume, no distortion, and a more natural and accurate higher quality sound, even with just two small speakers.

In addition, 5 modes of Preset EQ allow you to customize the sound experience to suit the style of music. These advanced music functions allow you to enjoy the same acoustic wow that you would hear from your home stereo.

Reevo reviews Compact and neat , brilliant sound. No need to recharge the battery too often. Haven;t used all the operations - mainly listening to music. Being in mid seventies I find the MP3 incredibly clear - however changed from the earphones supplied with it and upgraded to the type which attach round the ears themselves which I prefer.

Found the operation of putting sound up and down difficult to grasp - and sometimes found I had lost the sound completely and having to restart. Possibly my own fault.

Looking Inside An iPod

apple iPod nanoiPod represents a wide array of moveable media players which have been designed and are sold by Apple Inc. It was first launched in October 2001.

iPod models generally cover digital audio players with a central click wheel to iPod Shuffle that uses various buttons because of its small size. iPod Nano, a fifth generation, was launched in September 2006. This led to discontinuation of iPod mini, which it stored the data on an internal hard disk. iPod Shuffle and Nano employ flash type of memory for smaller size. These devices also act as an external medium for data storage.

iPod was inspired by the shortcomings of existing digital music players, which were not physically compact and the user interface were not very friendly.

Apple assembled a group of engineers and within a year, it unveiled the iPod. It was launched as a product which was Macintosh compatible with a hard drive of 5 GB. Apple used PortalPlayer`s reference for its software. The company Pixo helped iPod for developing user interface. But these were refined by Apple after development.

The naming of the device as `iPod` was suggested by Vinnie Chieco, who is a freelance copywriter. Coincidently, Apple had the name registered for `internet kiosks`, but it never used it for this purpose.

iPod can run MP3, M4A/AAC, AIFF, Protected AAC, Audible Audio book and WAV format. It also introduced the displaying of images ability with PNG, TIFF, GIF, BMP, and JPEG formats. The 5th generation models can even play MPEG 4. From the 2nd generation model, the software also started working with Windows along with Macs. It doesn`t support Microsoft`s WMA audio format. WMA and MIDI files can be changed using iTunes, a service provided by Apple through which you can view and download latest songs and movies on your device player.

iPods having colored displays use texts and graphics which are anti-aliased and sliding animations. The operating system is stored in a dedicated storage medium of the device. Each device player has 32 MB Ram, though later ones have 64 MB Ram. Most of it is used to cache songs through the storage medium.

Apple also added PDA type functionality so that text files can be viewed and an address book can be maintained through a computer. Also, some built-in games like brick are also included. In fifth generation iPod, the brightness of the screen can be adjusted and games can be downloaded from iTunes Store.

For first and second generation models, as well as Nano and Shuffle, internal lithium polymer batteries are used and for third and fifth generation models, internal lithium batteries are used. Initially, iPods came with a FireWire connection for charging the device, but with introduction of multipurpose USB ports, they became outdated. Recent iPod models can be charged using USB 2.0.

Many accessories, even by third parties, have been made for iPods. Some additional accessories developed by Apple were sound recorders, FM Radio Tuners, Remote Control and Audio-Visual Cables for TV. Other accessories are external speakers, protective cases, and wireless earphones. Third parties manufacturing most of these accessories are Griffin Technology, Belkin, Bose, and SendStation.

BMW vehicle manufacturer was the first car company to launch an iPod automobile interface, thus allowing newer vehicles to control iPod through steering wheels. Later Apple made this technology available to many other car brands too. Even certain Airlines started provided iPod connectors in the seat.

Apple markets its own iPod earphones and claims that they are better fitting for ears and provide better sound quality. Since it was launched, iPod has been market leader in digital players because of their high quality, supreme aesthetics and ease of use. With more cash flowing into research every year, there is no reason for this fact to change.

Scandisk Sansa - Mp3 Player Information And its Features

scandisk sansa
The Sansa View is Scandisk’s flagship flash MP3 player with the ability to playback video on its 240x320 64k color screen. What makes the Sansa View interesting is its high capacity flash memory along with memory expansion putting it in close rivalry to hard drive based players. The other thing going for the View is the “bang for the buck” factor. It may not be a high end player, but it is one of the best values on the market.

Scandisk’s Sansa View video player innovates beyond the typical video loading procedure, making it easy for consumers to transfer videos natively using widely available software. Most popular formats are supported via embedded player functionality, or via a one-time software download of the Sansa Media Converter which quickly transcends numerous video files, including DivX. Consumers can purchase and insert one of Scandisk’s microSD/MicroSDHC cards to play up to 24GB of music, video and photos on their Sansa View. In addition, the microSD card allows users to easily move their content to a cell phone or other mobile device.

The View is quick to start up. Control is provided by a clickable scrolling wheel with context-sensitive blue icons appearing at various points to guide you through the menu. On a Samsung player these ephemeral icons would themselves be buttons, but on the View they're merely benevolent guides leading you to your destination in an intuitive manner.

Scandisk has plenty of experience creating portable A/V devices, so the View isn't much of a surprise--it was only a matter of time. This player doesn't really bring anything new to the table, though it is attractive and fairly compact for a PVP. The relatively low capacity is an immediate concern--8GB really isn't that much--but there is an SD-card expansion slot for adding more memory. The player also offers A/V out for viewing content on a TV, and it supports slide shows. A user-removable, rechargeable battery and support for subscription WMA tracks round out the features.

Style-wise, the Sansa View definitely falls into the understated category; its shiny black face isn't unattractive, but neither is it eye-catching. The clear coat should do a reasonable job at protecting the player from scratches, but it also creates a dimming effect on the LCD, almost as if you're looking through a very fine-mesh screen. Luckily, the display gets very bright, so visibility is not really an issue. However, I should note that, although the text for all the menus is black, the lettering on the playback screen is white, which may present a problem for certain people. Along with track info, this screen also displays album art and can be set to show one of the following: time elapsed/remaining, a graphic equalizer, full-screen cover art, or the song that's on deck.

Features

* 2.4" LCD, 320 x 240 resolutions
* Video support: MPEG4, WMW, h.264 (at 30 fps)
* Only JPEG image support
* MicroSDHC slot
* FM Tuner
* Voice recorder
* Models: 8 GB - $149, 16 GB - $199 32 GB - $350
* Battery life: audio - 30 hours, video - 6 hours
