First Projecting Mobile Phone

Mini-projectors have been talked about for a while for their ability to be fitted into other gadgets, thereby adding another feature to that device.

The hype for these tiny projectors has been built up and all sorts of devices were suggested for a projection make-over, including; digital cameras, mp3 players and mobile phones. It wasn’t known what the first gadget would be to include the mini-projectors but the wait is now over and mobile phones will be the first to include the tiny units.

Mobile phones with mini-projectors included in them seem set to become the next big thing in the tech world, however, not all manufactures have hold of the devices yet and whilst they wait to get their hands on the new tech, a leading wholesale site has managed to release one of the long awaited units for sale from their site only.

The site’s ‘Projector Phone’ is a Tri-band mobile phone which operates on 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz, meaning that the phone will work with no trouble in the UK. The phone also has a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, MP3 and MP4 playback, micro SD storage and a touch-screen interface. The touch-screen’s layout and style does closely resemble a very popular touch-screen phone that has only recently been promoted to 3G, but it is suspected that the Projector Phone will not be quite as sophisticated.

However, it is not so much the screen that people are interested in, but the projector capabilities. The mobile phone will be able to shine out a 640 x 480 pixel resolution screen from a maximum distance of five feet away. This will mean that the image will be 80cm x 100cm, which is roughly equivalent to having a 46 inch television in your pocket.

It no doubt goes without saying that, although the projector is mini, it still adds a considerable amount of bulk to the unit, the phone’s measurements are; 122mm x 50mm x 27mm, and this is quite a chunky phone by today’s standards. Another things to fall down due to the addition of a projector is the battery life as the phone will only manage to project for two hours when fully charged.

However, the cost of this handset is a very positive point as it will only set you back a tad under £200, which is the price of many cheap mobile phones that can’t boast about having a mini-projector encased inside its shell.

For now, this is the only choice we have if we crave a mobile phone projector phone but it probably won’t be long before other manufacturers cotton on to the idea and that’s when we’ll see thinner and smaller and more individual models. Unfortunately for the customers however, it is at this point when mobile phone deals on these phones will start to disappear as the stunning designs will begin to reflect on the price.
